(J’espère que tu l’as remarqué.
me sauvent.

Almost Too Much (Plus Ninety Nine Cent)

We stumble in the desert of self
so easily
you agreed with me that you don’t exist.
It doesn’t mean I can suppress my love for you.
Confusing joy.
May I not fall?
Fall in love with you?
I have no God to send this prayer to.
If I won’t declare my love, will it be enough?
Would it be a good enough simulation of having no
fatal attachment to you?
(I hope you noticed. I referred only to fatal attachment, not to fatal attraction).
How can I cut you off
from being an extension of me? A much desired one. Aren’t you The One?
You have an awkward potential to be.
We both look in from the outside.
Deserted from mall culture.
You teach me how to be proud for being an outcast.
Your skin flashes promising brightness in this wasteland of nylon lights.
However, I cannot sweep myself to your body.
I cannot understand where we are, where I dwell, where you live,
Under what codes, and for what cost?
In mall culture everything costs almost-too-much plus ninety-nine cents.
All I want to afford is
to cast away to your chest.
To be a hidden island in the desert of no shopping options.
But
we have no genuine possibility to touch each other’s faces.
Sometimes
I’m capable of dying because of that.
Sometimes
the times I’m not
save me.
We are conjunct not in our hips but in our stance.
We share a history that we had no chance to experience together.
It does, though, folded in our present,
our futureless present.
The present is not such a poor present,
even if we can’t gift the future
to one another.
After every time we meet
I need to recover,
I need to rebuilt my strength
to hide you.
To hide you in my past, gifted present and tamed future.
Moreover, I need to hide my thirst from you.
I need to hide how precious you are to me,
To shove it into a dark drawer of underwear
and intimate immediate past.
Human kind is addicted to meaning.
But I’m off this hook, (I’m almost convinced).
I wanted more and went farther
to imagine I’m addicted to the way you caress my mind.
