Clear History

 

          Sometimes I search
for my name online, just to see   

          if I exist. I put the letters

in quotes, as if to hold
          myself together. I search

as if for a stranger, knowing

          nothing of her life.

When my name 
          appears, I think, Can I clear

          her history? She and I,
we live in the same

          body, but are only half 

real to each other.       

 

 

Effacer l’historique

 

          Il m’arrive de chercher
mon nom sur internet, juste pour voir

          si j’existe. Je mets les lettres

entre guillemets, une façon
          de me contenir. Je me cherche

comme si j’étais une inconnue, dont je ne savais

          rien de la vie.

Quand mon nom
          apparaît, je me dis, Puis-je effacer

          son historique ? Elle et moi,
vivant dans le même

          corps, mais seulement à moitié

réelles l’une pour l’autre.
