Jennifer Reeser is the author of four books of poetry. Former editor of The Paris Review, X.J. Kennedy, wrote that her debut collection "ought to have been a candidate for a Pulitzer." Her third, Sonnets from the Dark Lady and Other Poems, was a finalist for the Donald Justice Prize. Her most recent title, The Lalaurie Horror, debuted as an Amazon bestseller in the category of epic poetry.  Her poems, essays and translations of French and Russian literature have appeared in "Levure Litteraire," (France)  “POETRY”(United States), "The Hudson Review," (United States) , “SALT,” (Australia),  “Life and Legends” (India), and “The Dark Horse” (Scotland), among others.  Her writing has appeared in many anthologies, including Longman's college textbook, "An Introduction to Poetry," edited by Dana Gioia and X.J. Kennedy, “Phoenix Rising: The Next Generation of American Formal Poets,” and "Poets Translate Poets: A Hudson Review Anthology." Her work has been translated into Persian, Czech and Hindi, published on the sub-continent of India. It has been featured on the POETRY Foundation website, on the Verse Daily site, Goodreads and E-Verse Radio online. Classical/ art song composer, Lori Laitman, has set her poetry to music for the song cycle tribute to American poet Edna St. Vincent Millay. Her work is anthologized online at Famous Poets and Poems, The Hypertexts, Poetry Soup and others, and is required reading in schools, writing programs and universities across America. Her translations of the Russian poet, Anna Akhmatova, are authorized by FTM Agency, Moscow.  She has received awards from the Pulitzer Prize winner, Robert Olen Butler, from former vice-president of The Poetry Society of America, Dr. Alfred Dorn, and from The Lyric magazine. She is the former assistant editor of "Iambs and Trochees,” and currently a mentor with the West Chester Poetry Conference, the largest poetry convention in the United States.  She lives in the bayous of southern Louisiana with her husband and children.
