Karthika Naïr

Karthika Naïr is the author of Bearings (HarperCollins India, 2009) a poetry collection; DESH: Memories, inherited, borrowed, invented (MC2, Grenoble, 2013), a dance diary; and The Honey Hunter/ Le Tigre de Miel, a children’s book illustrated by Joëlle Jolivet (Young Zubaan, India, and Editions Hélium, France, 2013). She was also principal scriptwriter of DESH, choreographer Akram Khan's 2012 Olivier Award-winning dance production. In her résumé as dance producer and curator, one finds mention of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Damien Jalet, Käfig/Mourad Merzouki, the Louvre, Equilibrio Festival in Rome, the Shaolin Temple, misadventures with ninja swords and pachyderms, among others, many of which find their way willy-nilly into her poetry.

Elle a été également la scénariste principale de DESH, le solo célèbre du chorégraphe et interprète britano-bangladais Akram Khan. Productrice et programmatrice de danse, elle a notamment collaboré avec Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Damien Jalet et Mourad Merzouki. Son CV porte les mentions intrigantes du temple Shaolin et du Louvre, les mésaventures avec des épées ninjja et des pachydermes, entre autres, qui se retrouvent évidemment dans sa poésie.
