Mordechai Geldman

Mordechai Geldman was born in Munich to Polish parents who had survived the Holocaust. His family immigrated to Israel in 1949 and settled in Tel Aviv, where he has lived ever since. Geldman has a BA in World Literature, and an MA in Clinical Psychology and works as a psychotherapist using psychoanalytical methods.

Geldman has begun publishing poetry in 1966. His poetry is philosophical, psychological, and existential. It combines literary Hebrew and everyday language, even some slang. He has published 12 poetry books and 6 non-fiction books .A two volume collection from his books was published in 2011. His poems were translated into many languages: Chinese and Japanese included.

As a visual artist Geldman is engaged in painting, ceramics and photography. Geldman was an art critic for the Israeli daily Haaretz, and curated exhibitions for many Israeli artists.

Awards:  the Prime Minister Prize; the Brenner Prize for literature; the Amichai Prize; the Bialik Prize for Literature.

ומאז הוא מתגורר בתל אביב. לגלדמן ב"א בפסיכולוגיה וספרות עולם ומ"א בפסיכולוגיה קלינית. הוא פסיכותרפיסט בגישות פסיכואנליטיות.

גלדמן התחיל לפרסם שירה ב- 1966. שירתו היא פילוסופית, פסיכולוגית ואקזיסטנציאלית. היא מצרפת עברית ספרותית ושפה יומיומית, אפילו קצת סלנג. הוא פרסם 12 ספרי שירה ו-6 ספרי עיון. אסופה מקיפה משירתו בשני כרכים התפרסמה ב-2011. שיריו תורגמו לשפות רבות כולל סינית ויפנית.

כאמן פלאסטי גלדמן עסק בציור, קרמיקה וצילום. הוא שימש כמבקר האמנות של העיתון "הארץ" ואצר תערוכות לאמנים ישראלים רבים.
