Red Dust

Everywhere this red dust,
this ferruginous residue leaving its imprint
on our skin, our shoes, our clothes;
the inner lining of our lobed lungs -
and then, after the storm,
bauxite sludge blearing the road
so that we ourselves are almost made
metallic aluminium.
