Tanja Bakić

Tanja Bakić (b. 1981) is poet, translator, scholar and essayist of the former Yugoslavia. She holds a degree of B.A. in English Language and Literature and M.A in English Literature and is a William Blake scholar. She is the author of five poetry volumes (the first of which was published when she was 15 years old), each to critical acclaim. She penned numerous academic papers and essays on William Blake and other English poets. Bakić’s translations of poetry include authors like William Blake, W. B. Yeats, P. B. Shelley, Andrew Marwell, Lord George Gordon Byron, T. S. Eliot, Hilda Doolittle, etc. With Stephen J. Mangan she co-translated into English a selection of poetry of a Montenegrin poet Mladen Lompar entitled The Arc of Finitude (Putanja konačnosti). Her most recent translation of prose includes Rabindranath Tagore’s Hungry Stones and Other Stories. Her latest essay book is entitled Voodoo Child: A Story About Jimi Hendrix (Voodoo Child: Priča o Jimiju Hendrixu). She currently resides in Podgorica (Montenegro).
