Dorianne Laux a reçu trois “Best American Poetry” Prizes et un Pushcart Prize.
Elle enseigne la poé­sie, dirige le pro­gramme de maî­trise à North Carolina State University et est la fon­da­trice du pro­gramme MFA de Pacific University, en Oregon.

Elle est co-auteur du fameux The Poet's Companion : A Guide to the Pleasures of Writing Poetry.

Dorianne Laux’s most recent books of poems are The Book of Men (W.W. Norton, 2011), win­ner of the Paterson Poetry Prize, and Facts about the Moon (W.W. Norton, 2005), reci­pient of the Oregon Book Award and short-lis­ted for the Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize.

Laux is also author of Awake (Boa Editions, 1990); What We Carry Carry (Boa Editions, 1994), fina­list for the National Book Critic’s Circle Award, and Smoke (Boa Editions, 2000); Superman : The Chapbook (Red Dragonfly Press, 2008); Dark Charms (Red Dragonfly Press, 2010); et The Book of Women (Red Dragonfly Press, 2012).

She is the co-author of the cele­bra­ted text The Poet's Companion : A Guide to the Pleasures of Writing Poetry.

Her work has recei­ved three “Best American Poetry” Prizes, a Pushcart Prize, two fel­low­ships from The National Endowment for the Arts, and a Guggenheim Fellowship. In 2001, she was invi­ted by late poet lau­reate Stanley Kunitz to read at the Library of Congress.

In 2014 singer/​songwriter Joan Osborne adap­ted her poem “The Shipfitter’s Wife” and set it to music on her newest release, “Love and Hate.”
