Susanne Dubroff est née à Berlin en 1930. Elle a quitté l’Allemagne avec sa famille à l’âge de huit ans pour les USA. Elle vit dans le New Hampshire. Elève de Denise Levertov , elle a collaboré à de nombreuses revues telles que Tendril, Sou’wester, Southern Illinois University, Sonora Review (University of Arizona),The Christian Science Monitor, International Review of Poetry (University of North Carolina),The Bitter Oleander ( New York ), The Hampden-Sydney Poetry Review , The Mid-American Review , Luna ( The University of Minnesota ), Poetry , The Paris Review (New York), Circumference (University of Columbia). Ses poèmes ont été traduits en français et publiés dans les revues Arpa, La Barbacane, Lieux d’Etre et Le Journal des Poètes.
Elle a participé à de nombreuses manifestations poétiques et a traduit des poèmes de Rilke , de Goethe, de Mallarmé et de Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer . Elle est également l’auteure des traductions de deux anthologies de poèmes de René Char : « Nothing Shipwrecks Itself » (Mid-American Review Press) et, plus récemment, « René Char, This smoke that carried us » (White Pine Press , New York, 2004).
Parmi ses recueils récents figurent : « You & I » ( Kinsman Press,Franconia,1994 ), « The One Remaining Star » (WordTech Editions, Cincinnati, 2008) et “Saxophones Were Banned in Albania” (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, 2012).
Susanne Dubroff resides in Hanover (New Hampshire).
